i only there for an afternoon. i went in using the day trip visa. cannot stay overnight. must be back to maesai by 5 pm. after u cross the myanmar custom, u will walk down a flight of stairs where, in front of u is the market. there will be a lot of motor-trishaw (imagine a trishaw with a motorbike infront, instead of bicycle beside). there are trishaw too. u can tour around tacheilek (within 5 km from the custom - not supposed to go beyond that) with those motor-trishaw, u can see one of the pagoda, s statue of one of their king, to a temple etc. you can also see the long-neck and if u want - ayam farm.

the ayam farm is inside the residental area. he will bring u in, and the mama-san will ask the gal out to let u choose. they are all very young, even 18 yrs old also have. as a foreigner, they will try to squeeze u. bargain hard. after business, the driver will bring u back to the custom.

there should be more of this. there are 2 casino there - Allure and Regina. both are hotels too, and regina also have golf course. heard that sometime, the thai generals will come here to relax. they can come here to gamble and sanuk. shoud have gals too.

any bros out there have more info? even the mae sai at thailand side also have young gals and a disco too.

party in ChiangRai

Hi

try the Income Hotel, next to it is Thailand's largest disco - The Par Club (aka Par Disco).

nearby this hotel is an night restaurant that closes at about 4am or 5am.

Income Hotel has a KTV and a massage palour (not ap nam) and almost all the girls are pay-per-view types.

The Par Club is flooded.....with lots of people in the month of Songkran. I was there last year, a jaw-dropping/eye-popping experience.

Somewhere in ChiangRai is a theme hotel owned by a Japanese, the best unit is the Aladdin Room, 5 couples can make out in this Room, it's actually a small one storey (two bedroom) house. Each Room has a theme, facilities abound.........

Have fun. cheers.

Chiang Rai’s Friendship Bridge to Laos helping Boost Trade and Economic Expansion.

Now, Chinese tourists are driving from Kunming to Chiang Rai as the first Caravan via the 4th Friendship Bridge by Tourist Authority of Thailand.

CHIANG RAI – The fourth Thai-Laos Friendship Bridge has brought economic expansion and has helped increase trade between Chiang Rai’s Chiang Khong district and businesses across the border in Laos and beyond.

A few months have passed since the grand opening of the bridge connecting Chiang Rai with Bokeo Province in Laos. It was opened on December 11 of last year with the cooperation of Thai, Chinese and Laotian governments to link the transportation systems together, under an agreement of Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) countries. The project costs 1.57 billion baht.

The interconnectedness of the economic systems in GMS is continually developing and countries in Southeast Asia are becoming closer than ever. Chiang Khong district is one example of a place where economic development is expected to expand as a result. These expansion means that there is more product demand from Thailand, especially consumer products, construction materials and fuel, and Thai exports will continue to increase.

Besides offering a beautiful view of the Mekong waterfront, the 4th Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge is the most significant advance toward securing free trade between China and ASEAN, and the bridge is becoming a center of transportation, trade, investment and others services as the region gets ready for the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015. So far, it is clear that border trading has become much stronger since the bridge was built.

“The opening of the new bridge will increase the chances for entrepreneurs to expand their markets to Laos and China,” explained Supot Sikhares, a Customs Technical Officer for the new bridge border checkpoint. “Border development is the main key to facilitate international trade, investment, and tourism. We are ready to support the new transportation route, which has become a trade zone.”

The Chiang Khong market, near the bridge, is like a gateway to Indochina. This market was built to serve the increase in border trading and there is a variety of OTOP products available for trade. The aim is to upgrade the market into becoming a shopping mall and to accommodate the logistics concerning international trade.

Traders in Chiang Khong market expect the new developments to help the market become more important and they have recommended that border officials to improve the local services and utilities to facilitate the expansion.

The bridge represents the significance of Chiang Rai province in fulfilling the economic development within GMS, and it is an important opportunity for Thailand to be the center of transportation in the developing region.

If you've been to have been to many Thai provinces, some cities doesn't have taxi unlike the capital. Only from airport to the hotel. However, when you board the taxi from the airport, you always can liaison with the driver, and agree the price before he bring you around the city.

Re: ChangRai

Mae Sai Border Crossing Closed for Visa Runs: Burma for a 15 or 30 Day Visa to Stay Within Thailand is No Longer an Option.

CityNews - These new restrictions on land borders are already being enforced at the Mae Sai border into Burma in Chiang Rai Province.

Foreign nationals all over Thailand no longer have the ability to exit and re-enter the country by a land border crossing to gain another 15 or 30 day stay in Thailand.

The Immigration Bureau of Thailand has confirmed this regulation as of Saturday May 10, 2014.

With this new regulation in place, foreigners can only enter Thailand by a land border just once, after which they will be refused entry into the Kingdom of Thailand. In lieu of this, foreigners will be advised to fly out of the country and return with a visa obtained from a Royal Thai Embassy or a consulate in a neighbouring country or overseas.

It is believed that the new regulation is to stop foreigners from going on consecutive border runs for an extended stay in the country without a proper visa from a consulate or embassy abroad or an extension of stay officially issued by the Immigration Bureau in Thailand.

It should be noted that Non-Immigrant Visa or Tourist visa holders with remaining entries on their visa can exit and enter Thailand as before.

September 21, 2018 by Richard Barrow.

Visiting Chiang Rai will become a little bit easier with the launch of a new airport bus service at Mae Fah Luang International Airport in October.
This modern and comfortable bus, which also has wheelchair access, will take you into the city center of Chiang Rai which is about 8km away.
The route passes King Mengrai Monument, the Night Bazaar, Chiang Rai Bus Station 1, CentralPlaza Chiang Rai, and terminates at Chiang Rai Bus Station 2.
The service will run from 6:00am to 11:20pm and costs only 20 Baht for the entire line. Onboard, in addition to space for wheelchairs, there is also free WiFi and CCTV security cameras.

Re: ChangRai

Chiangrai thread so quiet and not updated long time ago, either nothing much there or people not sharing information........suggest you ask taxi or tuktuk driver around and remember to post FR for the benefit of others.

Some senior see those newbie with contributing FR and keep asking, usually we bo chap and not willing to help. So is always good to contribute some FR before asking or just pay to join membership.

Am in Chiang Rai now. Confirmed that the girls here are more prettier than girls in Chiang Rai. The beer bars mentioned in most websites and here are mainly patronised by Westerners. Tried to search for girls in wechat but system replied no one is using this function here. Went to ParClub and mostly are very young girls. Sigh. Leaving for Chiang Mai in 2 days time.

Honestly, speaking, most Chiang Rai girls and any other girls in the neighbouring province of Chiang Mai, if they are of working age, would have gone down to Chiang Mai to work, if not all the way to Bangkok. and the native population in Chiang Rai is very much smaller than Bangkok and there arent even a nightlife spot for local comparable to what they have in Chiang Mai...I have explored Chiang Rai recently and highly skeptical about what exactly you find so attractive ...and there really is no such thing as girls in Chiang Rai more good-looking than girls in Chiang Mai because of the smaller population and the fact that many girls and people in Chiang Mai actually come from the neighbouring province, including Chiang Rai, for further study and work and it is practically and demographically impossible for Chiang Rai to have more good-looking girls than Chiang Mai.

this is not a flame more like a sobering statement of reality to avoid people purposely going to Chiang Rai just to look for prettier girls.. no, they arent there and Chiang Rai is not a party town and most people will mostly like end up disappointed. in fact most cheongsters would probably find the town boring, and would want to leave after one day, unless you got other business to stay back for.

the timings is rather bad imo.

either early in the morning where one cant get a train/bus to the airport and had to grab a ride, it doesn't makes sense to sleep over after catching that last bus (example 3am flight where it does make sense to leave home at 1130pm).

or its too early in the afternoon where one cannot take half day off and get to the airport on time (example 1230pm flight, one cant take PM half day yet arrive at 1030pm for check-in) and requires a full day of leave, yet to arrive in CR at almost the end of the day.

prices are competitive neither...better to use thailand airlines in bkk for a wider selection of timings.
