There were a total of 5 judges comprising 3 men and 2 women.

The stage lights came on and the speakers began to blast out a hypnotic piece by Kshmr. It was a cue for the dancers to start showing their moves. The other two girls begin to jostle for the middle position, each determined to out do their competitors. As the song entered the 2nd minute mark, the girls were nude except for Anna. She was still fully clothed. Slowly, her hands pulled the kimono slash and the robe fell apart revealing an emerald-green corset with matching garters. Under the soft lighting, the shimmery green from the outfit illuminated her pale skin. She looked like a living porcelain-doll.

She let the kimono fall to the ground and continued dancing to the music. By now all eyes were on Anna. But throughout her dance, her eyes remained fixated on the man sitting in the middle of the table. It’s as if she was dancing for him alone. Her corset and garter came off only at the last few moments of the song giving the judges little time to admire her nude body. She ended the dance with a pointe, drawing gasps from the judges.

Before the song has even ended, there was no doubt of who will be the winner of this round.

Unlike mainstream jobs where employees are paid on a monthly basis, strippers do not get paid by the club at all. In fact, strippers have to pay the management a fee in order to work at the club. The fee is called house fee and the club drew a ten percent commission on all dances performed in champagne rooms. However, strippers get to keep the money earned from stage dances.

Murmurs of protests were heard throughout the room where the chosen applicants gathered for a briefing.

We have to pay to work here?!

Omg, you mean I have to lose money first in order to earn money?

What if I don’t earn any money for the night? Do I still have to pay the house fee?

You mean there is no monthly fixed salary and no cpf?

All the girls were whispering to one another, expressing their grievances and grouses. All except the two girls seated at the last row. Anna looked at the girl to her left. She is pan-asian and has the most beautiful eyes and a smile that could melt hearts. But Anna could sense an aura of melancholy around the girl. The girl turned and looked at Anna. Without a single word between them, the two girls sealed their friendship with a silent smile.

They have the same sorrow in their eyes.

Her name is krystal. The club will open in one month’s time. She has 30 days to decide.
