The key difference is there was no travel restriction during the 1998 Asian Financial Crisis.

When travel restriction ease, I also believe the caweks will come back to TB.

Especially since both JB and Singapore has direct ferry to TB.

Where there is no direct ferry to Tanjung Batu.
