As I made my way to my bedroom, I walked past my in-laws' room. A familiar sound made me stop in my tracks. I thought I heard the distinctive sounds of whipping and slapping coming from their room. Seeing that I was the only person along the corridor, I crept towards their door.

"No?" the whip cracked another time and I thought I heard a groan.
